Natural Paldar Shahpash Cashmere Shawl
Pure Pashmina from which the legendary ‘ring shawl’ is made, is incredibly light, soft and warm. During grazing at 14000 ft above msl., a few strands of the downy hair from the throat are shed during spring time which are painstakingly collected by the nomads, eventually to supply to the shawl makers. The Pashmina fiber is only 14-19 microns in diameter, it cannot be spun by machines, so the wool is hand-spun by the finest artisans of Kashmir mostly women. The skill of the artisan to spun the fine yarn determines the price of the shawl, there are many qualities – the yarn can be spun so skilfully as to resemble a strand of silk.
One distinct difference between Pashmina and Cashmere is the fiber diameter. Pashmina fibers are finer and thinner than cashmere fiber, therefore, it is ideal for fine scarves like ring shawls. The ring shawl are so fine that the whole shawl or stole can pass through a ring.

With proper care Pashmina shawl will maintain its looks for a very long period of time and can be passed from one generation to another. Proper care will also increase its softness and luster. Here are some basic tips:
For best results always hand-wash in very cold water with a mild detergent, a low pH shampoo, or use pure Castile soap. To dry, gently press out the excess water and hang over a shower curtain rod or lay it down on a flat surface. When the Shawl is dry, cover it with a thin cotton sheet and press with a warm iron. Always store your shawl outside the reach of bugs and store with it a few cinnamon cloves wrapped in muslin. Always keep it away from dampness and heat.
