“Ojo de Dios” Tribal Cushion Cover Hand Embroidered
This tribal inspired cushion cover puts one in mind of Aztec symbolism. A variation on the stylized all-seeing-eye, this one is surrounded by birds and flowers, favorite depictions in Meso-American art. Here, the ‘Ojo de Dios’ or God’s Eye is that of the Sun god, or possibly that of Huitzilopochtli, the god known as ‘The Hummingbird from the South,’ those who showed the Aztecs where they should build their civilization. It is interesting to note that the dry, but lush Sonoran Desert has more species of hummingbird than any other region of the world. This classic earth and sky-hued decorative cushion cover is finely handcrafted in art silk embroidery artisans of Kashmir.
